"Grateful" Kurds are saying Goodbye to the American troops | October 2019 | Syria

A new video released this week shows locals in northern Syria throwing rotten fruit and stones at the departing U.S. Armed Forces.

The U.S. military withdrawal from northern Syria has been met with contempt from many locals, as the abrupt move has greatly affected the people of this region.

On October 6th, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the abrupt withdrawal of the U.S. troops from the vast Syria-Turkey border region.

The move caught many off guard as the U.S. had previously refused to withdraw from this region in favor of a safe zone that would be jointly monitored by NATO ally Turkey.

However, Turkey repeatedly criticized the U.S. for not forcing the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and People’s Protection Units (YPG) to withdraw from the region.
